内容記述 | This study focused on physical play in earlychildhood as a means of embodying the "non" of non-cognitive skills from the perspective of age differences and development at ages3, 4, and5. The OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) and other organizations have reported that the development of noncognitive skills is influenced by the quality of childcare and play. However, there is little evidence regarding the determinants in the development process of such skills, or the mechanisms that lead to their acquisition; moreover, there are no materials contributing to educational interventions. The ambiguity of “non” inresearch and practice, where “non” is considered a generic term for unquantifiable skills has resulted in conceptual overlap and semantic vacuums. First, items considered to be “non” cognitive skills were compiled and selected. Then, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 1,724 randomly selected young children with proxy ratings by 862 teachers of kindergarten and day nursery. Third, an exploratory factor analysis and a covariance structure analysis for its validation, followed by multiple group structural equation modeling, were conducted. The results revealed the factor structure of “non” cognitive skills of physical play, which was extracted as 23 items and 4 factors, each given its own name. Multiple simultaneous analyses explained the commonality and heterogeneity of “non” by age. These results that determinants of “non” cognitive development exist in early childhood. | |||||
