With the proliferation of smartphones, basically all students now have immediate access to these tools, and the usage of electronic dictionaries is declining. As shown with text composition (as homework) for a class of Japanese students learning German, most students use traditional dictionaries to look for unknown words, but a growing number of students uses online translation tools to write text.
