Additionally, the students were asked how well the terms expressed food properties. Fifty-five onomatopoeic terms commonly used to describe food were included. The following results were obtained. More than 90% of the students (with a confidence level of 95%) recognized seven onomatopoeic terms as the words describing food. The recognition of onomatopoeic terms also differed according to students’ degree of interest in food. Some words resulted in different images according to students’ sex and eating preferences.
