| 内容記述 | The implementation of organic chemistry program in the premiere science high schools of Japan and Philippines was examined. The topics’ scope and sequence were based on the nature of organic compounds in Japan, while based on organic reactions in the Philippines. Assessments given to students were comparable for both countries. Students of organic chemistry from Japan and Philippines have different attitude toward self-regulation specifically on memory strategies, goal-setting, self-evaluation, seeking assistance and learning responsibilities. On the other hand, the same attitude is shared by the two countries in terms of environmental structuring and organizing abilities. The Philippines prioritized the development of subject matter expertise, whereas Japan emphasized teaching methods. The required facilities, feedback mechanisms and academic interventions in the program implementation are nearly the same for both countries. | |||||||||
