| 内容記述 | Japan’s declining and aging population is resulting in many changes, including its mobility patterns. Analysing statistical data on automobile ownership and driving licences, this article discusses recent trends in Japan, including younger people’s shift away from cars. Despite this shift being emphasized in the media, the number of people holding driving licences as well as the number of cars and the total mileage of all cars in Japan keep increasing. While a reduction in the number of driving licences can be confirmed among young people, it is mainly the growing number of women working in Japan who are the cause of the increasing number of cars and driving licences. | |||||||
