Development and Practice of the Chemical Experimental Methods in Candies Making for Visiting Instruction, Preparation of Gummy Candies, Lemonade Candies, and Sweet Alginate Beads
Sweet candies are remarkably familiar and attractive not only for the primary school children, but also for adults. For visiting instruction of the chemical experiment in a cooking room, procedures of candies making were investigated. Three sweet candies, “Gummy Candies”, “Lemonade Candies”, and “Sweet Alginate Beads” were chosen and their preparation methods for visiting instruction were developed chemically. A practice by using the developed methods was performed in a cooking room at Mizuho Young People’s Center(Seinen-no-i-e) in Nagoya city on August8, 2006. The experimental method in candies making was proved to be educationally useful and effective to master the basic theory and handling in chemical experiments by analyzing the questionnaire data.
