| 内容記述 | 本研究ではe-Learning による日本語の語彙コース（ALC NetAcademy2）の学習において、受講生（留学生）が授業内・授業外でどのように取り組んだかを学習履歴の分析を通じて考察する。このe-Learning は教師の管理下での一斉教室学習と教室外での自律的学習を組み合わせた形態で実施した。コース全体の学習時間、授業内・授業外での学習時間、授業の指定ユニット・指定外ユニットの学習履歴等を日本語レベル別、個人別に分析した結果、以下のことが明らかになった。語彙コースの総学習時間は聴解コースよりも長い。総学習時間が一番長いのはレベルⅠである。授業外学習時間が一番長いのもレベルⅠである。レベルⅠは授業内より授業外の自主学習時間の方が長い。指定外ユニットの学習は聴解コースよりも頻繁かつ長時間行われている。全体的特徴は、学習時間の長い人と短い人、自主学習した人としない人がレベルを超えて全体に分布していることである。よって、この語彙コースの学習はレベルに関わらず興味をもった分野を選択して自由に取り組めることが受講生の学習を幾分ではあるが促進したと考えられる。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This paper investigated how the international students utilize and benefit from the online Japanese-language program called “ALC NetAcademy2” in and outside the classroom. The author practiced the pilot e-Learning class utilizing this course under the management of the instructor. This course includes a vocabulary and a listening course. This study investigated the students’ learning histories of the vocabulary course and compared the results with those of the listening course. The background of the study is the comparative study on online language learning with face-to-face instruction by Blake (2008; 2009). It shows that the students who took all or part of their classes online performed better than those in traditional face-to-face learning environments and those in purely online courses. According to this study, the main factor which affected this result is the amount of time they worked on their task, which is not directly addressed the issues of online language learning. The medium stimulates students to spend more time engaged with the second language material, which ultimately promotes greater learning. A comparative analysis of the vocabulary course and the listening course revealed that (1) the students spent more time on vocabulary learning than listening, (2) the lower level students are engaged in the course longer than the higher level students, and (3) more students work self-directed on the vocabulary course than listening course. These results indicated that the vocabulary course inspired the students to spend more time on learning. Since this research is only based on the analysis of the amount of time the learners engaged in the courses, the quality of the work and task should be taken into consideration to assess their autonomy. Further research is called for. | |||||
